ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition affecting focus, attention, and the ability to remain still. An ADHD evaluation is conducted when symptoms interfere with functioning at home, school or work. ADHD can be diagnosed at any age, and individuals may learn coping strategies for managing impulsivity, hyperactivity, and distractibility.
The ADHD evaluation includes multiple tests and rating scales based on the specific concerns of the family or clinician. It often includes cognitive or IQ testing, behavioral measures, and sometimes emotional scales. The process requires several appointments, including an intake session, 1-3 testing sessions, and a feedback meeting to discuss results, diagnosis, and recommendations.
Assessment fees range from $2,200 to $3,500. Health insurance is not accepted for these evaluations since they are considered educational, not medically necessary. However, clients may request paperwork to submit to their insurance for possible reimbursement. A half-fee is collected at the start of the evaluation, and the balance is due at the feedback session.
